For the fourth time, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and its guests are working with Ludger Engels to develop three concert performances to accompany the special exhibitions at the Küppersmühle Museum. In the nine editions of the series to date, which has developed into a cult series and whose three performances are now performed twice each due to high demand, the Philharmonic Orchestra has created new levels of experience from the themes and content of the exhibited works with more than 40 guests from music, drama and dance. In the next three concert performances, sonic interventions will reveal new perspectives on the works in the Küppersmühle’s unique Ströher Collection, as well as the backgrounds of the respective artists and their inspirations.

The focus is on the experience of sound, but also—in a very immediate way—on one’s own body in space. In these staged concerts, movement continually reexamines the relationship to the artworks. During the concert performances, the musicians wander through the museum’s spaces. Visitors are invited to join in the movement and explore new vantage points. In this way, the individual encounter with the artwork is re-explored in every room—an interplay of visual and acoustic sensory impressions, of visual art and performance, that creates an entirely new level of experience and participation and opens up dialogues.
