Deutsche Bank Foundation Youth Art Prize 2012

February 15 – 28, 2013
MKM Museum Küppersmühle for Modern Art, Duisburg

“Youth interprets art. Deutsche Bank Foundation Youth Art Prize” is an ambitious, intensive art education project that has been taking place at the MKM since 2000. Several thousand schools from all over Germany are invited to apply each year. 20 participants are selected by lot and visit the Küppersmühle Museum throughout the year. They receive art education and organizational support. The pupils engage with the artists presented at the MKM and their works, can view and compare the artworks at their leisure, pester the experts with questions and finally put their own creativity to the test.

Not only do the students get the opportunity to get to know contemporary art up close and to develop new knowledge and creativity, but we also want to promote teamwork, organizational skills and responsibility for a joint project. An intensive process of getting to know and understand contemporary art characterizes this extensive national youth art competition. “Up close” is the motto: don’t shy away from contemporary art, from new themes, from unfamiliar terrain.
