Youth Interprets Art | Deutsche Bank Foundation Youth Art Prize

November 13 – 23, 2007
at the MKM Museum Küppersmühle for Modern Art, Duisburg

In 2007, the MKM was once again visited by 20 school classes from all over Germany. The participants in the “Jugend interpretiert Kunst” competition had the opportunity to experience the original works of art at the MKM in detail, to pester experts with questions, to discuss and analyze them and finally to create their own works. This highly endowed national youth art competition is characterized by an intensive process of getting to know and understand contemporary art. “Up close” is the motto: don’t shy away from contemporary art, new themes and unfamiliar terrain.

The jury has now met and decided on the works of three schools to be chosen as this year’s winners of the Deutsche Bank Foundation Youth Art Prize. The jurors Abraham David Christian, Markus Lüpertz, Coordt von Mannstein, Walter Smerling and Sylvia Ströher did not make the decision easy this year either.
