March 18 to June 12, 2016
at the MKM Museum Küppersmühle for Modern Art, Duisburg
Painter and sculptor, poet and jazz musician, footballer, intellectual, craftsman and obsessive worker – Markus Lüpertz’ range of activities is enormous. Since the early 1960s, the long-serving rector of the Düsseldorf Art Academy has created works whose unmistakable style and expressiveness have found a firm place in German art history.
For the first time, the Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur e.V. is presenting Markus Lüpertz in a solo exhibition at the Museum Küppersmühle and will be showing more than 80 works from all important creative phases from March 18. The focus is on painting, but sculptures, reliefs and printing blocks are also on display. The works are part of the Ströher Collection, which is one of the few collections to hold such an extensive body of works by Markus Lüpertz that his artistic development can be traced over five decades.
