Ralph Fleck | Painterly border dissolutions

February 27 to April 26, 2015
MKM Museum Küppersmühle for Modern Art

The painter Ralph Fleck moves constantly and consistently along the fine line between realistic and abstract figuration like hardly anyone else, creating visual experiences that often only reveal their cosmos at second glance. The Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur e.V. is presenting a retrospective overview for the first time in Germany at the MKM, presenting his painterly explorations and transformations of real structures and architectures such as Alpine and seascapes, field pieces, cityscapes and still lifes on the basis of around 100 works. The boundary between nature (the natural forms and structures) and architecture (the built, ‘artificial’ forms and structures) seems to be dissolved or to form an equality in his works; his painterly gesture ranges from the expressive ductus to controlled and deliberately placed surfaces.
