Film evening at the MKM – E. W. Nay and the beauty of colour
As part of our retrospective of Ernst Wilhelm Nay, a spectacular special event will take place on 21 June 2023 at 18:00. Together with the screening of the film “Atelierbesuch E. W. Nay” by Michael Blackwood, Siegfried Gohr, Kay Heymer, the painter Jerry Zeniuk and the curator of the current exhibition Eva Müller Remmert will hold a public discussion focusing on colour as a means of expression in modern painting.
Prof. Dr. Siegfried Gohr (*1949 in Aachen) is an art historian, curator and freelance publicist and the author of a comprehensive monograph on Ernst Wilhelm Nay, which will be published in autumn 2023.
Prof. Jerry Zeniuk (*1945 in Bardowick, Lower Saxony) is a German-American painter who works with abstract colour field painting. He was professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1993 to 2011. His book How To Paint was published in 2017.
Family tours
During the temporary exhibition “E. W. Nay – Retrospective” we offer family tours on three Sundays. Children and their parents or accompanying persons are guided through the exhibition in dialogue and playfully explore all kinds of colours and shapes. Suitable for children from 6 years.
Dates: 30.4. | 14.5. | 18.6. each from 13:30-14:30
Cost: The family tours are part of the public tours and are therefore offered free of charge. Only the entrance fee has to be paid. Children up to the age of 16 are admitted free of charge.

Writing workshop on works of art by Ernst Wilhelm Nay
Equipped with pen, paper and individual tasks for creative writing, we move through the temporary exhibition “E. W. Nay – Retrospective” in this workshop. In relation to individual paintings by the artist, participants can explore and record their individual perception and imagination in poetic forms such as haiku or elfchen. After the practical part, there is the possibility to present the texts in the group.
This offer is aimed at young people from the age of 12 and anyone else who feels like it.
