Les Essences is an international chamber orchestra under the direction of violinist Önder Baloglu, which is based in Essen and is made up of outstanding musicians from various orchestras in NRW. Their program covers a broad spectrum of music by known and unknown composers from all eras of music history. The current concert was conceived with the exhibition of the painter Gerhard Hoehme in mind and presents works by composers such as Anton von Webern, whose music for string instruments the artist particularly appreciated. The result will be a fascinating dialog between Hoehme’s art and the music of Les Essences.

The ensemble is the winner of the NRW 2025 Art Prize and has received financial support from the state of NRW over the past three years.
