The last day of the exhibition “Homage to Jannis Kounellis” ended with an artist performance by Timm Ulrichs (“Kohle-Ofen, brennbar”) and a discussion round. This marks the end of the cross-city Art & Coal exhibition, in which a total of 17 Ruhr art museums took part and artistically dedicated themselves to the coal phase-out in the Ruhr region.
The discussion revolved around the topic: Art instead of coal? The speakers were: Wolfgang Heit (Chairman of the Brost Foundation), Edwin Jacobs (Director of Dortmunder U/Spokesperson for RuhrKunstMuseen), Stefanie Reichart (Head of Culture, Ruhr Tourismus), Ferdinand Ullrich (Curator), Timm Ulrichs (Artist) and Walter Smerling (Director MKM).
