FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE MUSEUM – A contest at the MUSEUM KÜPPERSMÜHLE on the occasion of the exhibition “KARIN KNEFFEL – COME IN, LOOK OUT.“
Free museum visit & 500 euros prize money for the winning class
Dear students,
Dear teachers,
The exhibition “KARIN KNEFFEL – COME IN, LOOK OUT.” at the MKM Museum Küppersmühle in Duisburg is something very special. On display are 70 paintings and a series of watercolors by German artist Karin Kneffel, which are particularly captivating due to their play with perspectives and angles.
Karin Kneffel’s colorful pictures show the world as seen through a pane of glass. Her imagery is both familiar and enigmatic – she shows extremely enlarged still lifes, interiors, landscapes and architecture that are only dimly visible through reflections and steamed-up panes. Reflective surfaces or drops of water distort the view and leave a feeling of uncertainty.
With her varied means of presentation, Karin Kneffel invites us to question and rethink the limits of our own perception.
Register your class for a free visit to the exhibition between June 5 and
30. August 2024. Before your visit, you will receive a quiz card to bring with you to the exhibition, the answers to which will emerge from a conscious examination of the artworks in the temporary exhibition. At the end of the exhibition period, one class will be drawn from all the correctly completed cards to receive prize money of 500 euros for their class fund. You also have the opportunity to become part of the exhibition yourself. After visiting the exhibition, you can capture your impressions in pictures, which will be presented digitally to all visitors to the MKM Museum Küppersmühle.
