Seit 14 Jahren präsentiert die Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur e.V. das Wettbewerbsprojekt „Jugend interpretiert Kunst“ im Duisburger Museum Küppersmühle. Seit 2014 übernimmt der Essener Chemiekonzern Evonik die Schirmherrschaft für den Preis. Auch in diesem Jahr bewarben sich wieder bundesweit viele hundert Schulen, um die Chance zur Teilnahme an Deutschlands höchst dotiertem Jugendkunstpreis zu erhalten. So wurden auch diesmal 20 Schulklassen per Los ermittelt, die sich mit ihren Wettbewerbsbeiträgen, d.h. mit ihren Antworten auf die zeitgenössische Kunst im MKM der Bewertung der Jury stellen. Alle 20 Teilnehmerklassen und damit mehr als 450 Schüler und ihre Lehrer werden bei der Eröffnungsfeier dabei sein und mit Spannung die Bekanntgabe der Preisträger erwarten.
